It's Wedding Season!!

If you're like me, the invitations for weddings have been pouring in for a couple of months now! And what's better than seeing friends joined in marriage, having a few too many drinks, dancing a little off beat, and finding the perfect dress to wear for this fun celebration?! Well I could probably name a few.....but attendance to some weddings are still a must and because many of those are basically like a high school or college reunion, you want to look your best!  There are so many styles and bright colors to choose from this year, but I'm still a stickler that no one should wear white to a wedding except the bride (unless it's requested, of course.)

I have been a fan of the pastels this spring and wore this Pink Scalloped Tiered Sculpted Shift Dress from White House Black Market to my best friends' wedding a couple of weeks ago! This dress is so comfortable and I had a lot of compliments on it! It's now on sale for only $99.99-- just click here to see if they have your size!

I also purchased this mint green dress at TJ Maxx for only $40!! It's Cynthia Rowley -- such a fan of her collection because her clothes are very well made, stylish, and comfortable! The style of this dress is flattering for a lot of body types because it extends out at the waist and comes down below the knees to help with our imperfections.... shhh! This color is also great for any hair color and can be paired with a contrasting color necklace or earrings! I wasn't able to find this particular dress on the internet, but Lulu's had several styles in this same shade that would also look great for a summer wedding!! (Pictured below, can find at www.lulus.com)

Western Wear

As a true southern girl I love to add western inspired items with my outfits, whether it's a pair of boots or a vest like I'm wearing in these pictures.

The Aztec dress on the left is from Francesca's that I bought last year. The have so many cute dresses on their website, if you are not close to one of their boutiques. The one pictured to the right is only $29.98 right now, just click here.

I'm obsessed with the cowboy boots I'm wearing in this picture and probably try to wear them too much. I have them in light brown (as shown), dark brown, white, and black! Yeah, it's a problem.  Volatile is my favorite brand of cowboy boots because they have the perfect heel and very comfortable.  Depending on where you purchase them (DSW, Off Broadway Shoes, etc.), they are going to average around $65-80.  Although they are well worth the money, if you search around you may be able to find a better deal!

Many people are adding denim vests with dresses or maxi skirts and I am loving this trend!  I added a fringe vest because it was in my closet and I thought it paired with this outfit just as good, if not better than the denim.  I wear this vest year round because it's suede so it can also be used in the winter.  A great vest similar to this one on sale now for only $99.99 can be found here at Urban Outfitters!! (shown below) My maxi skirt was purchased last year from www.bluetiquecheapchic.com but you can also find a similar skirt on Urban Outfitters and even your local TJ Maxx or Marshall's!!

Pretty in Pink and Pearls

Sometimes it's nice to get back to the basics that makes us really feel like a girl, such as pink and pearls.  Any time you can add a vintage or retro look with that, only it makes it that much better.  I bought this 60's inspired, color block shirt from The Loft last year and my string of pearls were my grandmother's. The Loft always has great sales and a good place to look for basics or statement pieces like this shirt. Paired with black skinny pants and wedges to make it a quick outfit for work, running errands, or dinner with friends!

To get this similar look you could also use a peplum top, like the one here from Body Central (for only $14.98).  They have multiple colors on their website.

A pearl necklace (long or short) can be picked up anywhere and I tend to favor the ones with a bit more character, like these two from Charming Charlie-- they always have affordable jewelry in every color & style! I absolutely love this store and it's great for when you are in a hurry to find the right statement piece!

Let me say it again..SPRING!!

I couldn't be more excited that spring is finally here,  even with the horrible news that we may have more snow next week...blah. I'm not letting that get me or my outfit down today. Keeping it very casual with my all nude base and pops of greens and blues with my leopard shirt (which I got at Kmart!!). My pants are Guess straight legged and go great with any shoe -- sandal, wedge, or heel-- still a little chilly this morning so I paired it with my beige, wedged bootie. What pop of color did you wear today?!

Shop the turquoise trend at The Limited to get your spring colors today!! Click here.

Set the Table!

Finally have my dining room complete with my new rug from Urban Outfitters!  After only living here for a year, I was able to accomplish the separation from my living room and give it a finished look. You can get this same rug for as cheap as $45 by clicking here!! Top your spring cleaning off with a fresh look!

It's Finally Spring!!!

I'm ready for some warmer weather and sunshine! I brought out my springy scarf today to add with my black and white basic outfit. It helped to add plenty of color and make my day a bit more colorful!! Any pastel or neon or floral scarf will help to change the look of your most basic outfits! This particular infinity scarf was a gift from a friend who bought it in Germany. I found a cheap, similar floral scarf at H&M for only $10, click here!

I'm gonna take your Grandma's style!

I'm a fan of just about anything gold, but I was so in love with this gold rope when my mother gave it to me at Christmas. It's my grandmother's, so it's what all you kids would consider "vintage". Due to gold making such a huge comeback in past several years there are similar styled necklaces being produced. In fact, I found this one at Jeweliq for only $25!! My paisley shirt is lightweight and very comfortable,  with 3/4 lengths sleeves it can be worn in warmer weather like SPRING and easily fits under sweater as I'm wearing here. I got this at bluetiquecheapchic.com and they have a ton of similar shirts for spring at great, affordable prices!!

Na Na Na Na BATMAN!!

Sorry, I've been a little behind on my posts. This is from last weekend-- a casual Saturday with my family. Perfect weather to showcase my new sweatshirt from Windsor. Paired it off with my destroyed skinny jeans from American Eagle and my 10 yr old pair of converse! (but hey they never go out of style) You can find this same sweatshirt at Windsor for only $25 by clicking here!!

Elephant Chief

Loving my new relaxed long sleeve shirt from Windsor!! Got in the mail just a couple of days ago, along with some other great items I can't wait to showcase! This shirt feels amazing and lightweight. Easy for layering -- as I did wear it under a long sweater cardigan -- or to wear with shorts when it finally gets warm outside again! At only $20 it's a great buy! Click here to see it on their website!

Animal Print & Hunter Green

I'm just not ready to give up my fall favorites, maybe because it's still cold and expecting lower temperatures next week in this place I call home!

I don't believe that I will ever get tired of animal prints. I've been wearing it for years and years, in and out of style.
I wear animal prints more as a neutral and pieces that will standout or bring my look together. One of my favorite pieces is the scarf I'm wearing in this picture, just picked up on the streets of NYC, and I love it paired with the greens, blacks, and golds!

My sweater is Michael Kors and extremely comfortable. Can be paired with leggings (as I'm wearing here), leather pants, jeans, or a great go-to for a lightweight cardigan. This was a TJ Maxx find, on sale for only $20!! A perfect deal and steal for my closet :)

Lady in Red

Lady in Red-- I wore this outfit for my Valentine's date, and yes I know I'm a bit behind the crowd but any day is a good day to wear red! I think red looks good on just about everyone, unless of course you have a contrasting red hair color...then you may want to pump the brakes! For me, I have a hard time wearing certain shades of yellow because it's like whoa! Pineapple coming thru!

Anywho, the top I'm wearing is from Arden B. and a very flattering fit and style. The loose blouse let's me wear my leather leggings without showing too much, but the lace at the top makes it more sexy and shows off just enough skin! This store is great place to purchase tops and at a very affordable price! They always have great sales in store and online for 50%, usually on already marked down items. I think I paid only $17 for this one! Check them out at www.ardenb.com! They have a maroon, chiffon surplus bodysuit on sale right now for only $22 online that could give you this same look for less!! Also a good place to pick up costume jewlery!

My leather leggings are from Windsor! One of my favorite places to buy my clothes from basics to just great finds! Waiting on a shipment as you read ;) The leggings are only $19.90 and look great on. They don't appear cheap in person like some leggings and are very durable! A must have for your closet!!

Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for reading!!

USA! USA! USA!

It's not secret that I'm proud to be an American, but in honor of the Olympics I pulled out my patriotic sweater to wear to work today!  It's lightweight and easy to pair with skinnies or shorts in the spring.

To get this similar look-- click here on Forever21's website, there is an Americana sweater for only $25!!!

I'm also in love with this denim vest they have on their website for only $25! Perfect to pair with a jersey dress or maxi skirt!

The necklace I'm wearing is from bluetiquecheapchic.com and is on sale for only $10 right now!! Love it by itself and also easy to stack with other necklaces.  Click here to get this great buy!

Poncho & Combat Boots

I've had this poncho for about 4 years now and to be honest I can't even remember where I got it, but it's Steve Madden!  I love to just throw it on over my outfit as a coat or to finish off the outfit I'm wearing, like today.

Urban Outfitters have two different ponchos that I'm absolutely obsessed with called Staring at Stars Road Trip Blanket Poncho for $129 online, just click here!  I wanted to show them here but I couldn't get the picture attached!

Add some colored skinnies and these combat boots by Guess to fight off any cold, winter weather!  You can find these for only $60 at DSW, click here! I just love the gold detail on these!

The weather outside is frightful, but my leggings are so delightful!

The weather outside is frightful, but my leggings are so delightful! I love all of my printed leggings and I pick them up just about anywhere, but a good place to search is Forever21 for a variety and great price!

Both of these are less than $12! I wore this outfit to work, so I went with a longer sweater dress from H&M! Easy, simple, and very warm look!

Fo Fur

A little fake fur or animal print never hurt anyone. I personally think its a must do and two easy patterns to add to a large amount of your wardrobe!  I threw it on over my plain burgundy sweater from H&M for warmth and style.

I got this vest from H&M roughly 3 years ago and it has a sweater base to it with just a strip of fur down the front.  However, they now have a full fur vest on sale for only $20 that I LOVE and thinking about picking up myself! Click here to find it on their page!  Very cute and a great length to add over any blouse, sweater, or dress!

Outfit of the Day

Simple look today, mostly because I'm tired of dressing for the snow :) My scarf was a gift from a couple of Christmases ago, but such a fun piece that I can wear in the fall, winter, and spring because it can be paired with so many different colors! (especially coral in the spring!)  I was able to find one online that is just as cute and versatile for only $10!! The store is called Stone Country Boutique and can be found by clicking here!  My inexpensive and basic sweater can be found at H&M! I love the button detail on the sleeves!

I'm wearing one of my favorite camel colored boots with two layers of leggings.  These similar boots for less can be found at Journey's for only $40 by clicking here!

The gold watch I wear almost every day is from Guess and it's their "gold-tone feminine contemporary watch".  Most of my accessories are gold based, but I do switch it up from time to time. I have had this watch for almost 3 years and it still looks new and works very well!  Guess  has a great warranty with their watches, and one of the reasons I chose to go with their brand. Priced at only $135, it is definitely a long-lasting buy.

The bracelet that I'm wearing with my watch, is also a go-to for everyday wear, from Brighton Jewelry for only $52!  I usually wear the two together and then add any other bangles or bracelet  to match my outfit, like today I have on a beige bracelet with gold balls and the word love. Simple, but gives you some wrist bling ;) The bracelet can be found here and they also have it in silver!

The coat I'm wearing here is from H&M, it's a deeper teal color that I bought almost 3 years ago.  It's a wool blend, which makes it very warm, and the length is great because I am able to wear longer sweaters or dresses underneath. If you are looking for a teal peacoat, you can find one here at Delias.com for only $50!

Layers on Layers

Welp, the snow is back today and so are my layers! My sweater is a find from anthropologie.com several years ago and I love it because although it appears as if I'm wearing more than one sweater, I'm not, and it's soo warm! Anthropologie doesn't have this particular sweater anymore, but they have a really cute multi-color cardigan that would be a comparable look, click here! (shown in top corner) Underneath I'm wearing a basic tunic from H&M that you can find here for only $14.95! They call it a "Jersey Dress" because it can be worn by itself, but I scrunch it up and also use it as a shirt.

My western-inspired boots are one of many. I kind of have an obsession with them :) These have a chunky heel and are suede material, which makes them a little bit warmer. I found a pair of boots with this same style at here!
Journey's for $80, click

Weekend Wear

We had a great Saturday up in the 60's, so I was able to wear one of my newer and light-weight sweater/tunics. The tunic is from ardenb.com and although it's difficult to tell in this picture, it's a light peach color. I got it on sale for only $17!! Arden B. may have some items that are a bit expensive, but they always have great sales (even marked down 65% or more)! A similar cowl-neck styled sweater they have on clearance right now for only $17 can be found here!!

My necklace is from bluetiquecheapchic.com.  This is a great boutique for affordable apparel and jewelry!  This necklace above is only $10 and an amazing color for winter or spring looks :) Click here to buy it.

No tease, just spray!

I did loose curls today with my CHI ARC curling iron, that I posted about in one of my previous blogs.  That tool is so great because it gets 410 degrees and allows you to get tighter or looser curls depending on the time you hold it and the amount of hair you place in the clamp.  My hair is stick straight so it's difficult for me to get great curls that will last for more than 30 minutes, but with my CHI ARC and this amazing hair spray (below) my curls will hold all day and sometimes until the next day with a retouch.

Like I said before, my mom is a hair stylist and I used to work in a professional beauty supply store so I have used a ton of professional products over the years.  AEROGEL is without a doubt the best hairspray I have ever used that will truly hold your look into place!! It is a TRI professional hair care product and therefore, it can be a little pricey but its definitely worth it!  A little goes a long way with this product, so it will last a while before having to purchase a new bottle.  You can find it on their website starting at $18.75 by clicking here

This hairspray is gel based, hence the name, and can really be used as a fixative, gel spray, and root lifter.  I have had a lot of compliments over the years about how much volume my hair has and I never ever tease my hair!  I simply lift my hair and then spray Aerogel over it and hold for 5 to 10 seconds and it stays!  My friends are always asking me to do their hair anytime we go out because they want the volume and height this product gives.  We joke and call it my "concrete spray" because it does not move!  I always like a little height because I feel like when my hair lays to flat to my head I just don't look right, could be a Southern thing ;)

I have been using this hair spray for at least 8 years now and I wouldn't trade it for anything! I get nervous when my can starts to get low. Even today, as bad as I hate to admit it, its been two days since I've washed my hair and it still has height!

Let me know if y'all have any questions!!

Sunshine on a cloudy day

Brightening my day up with this neon yellow and black striped sweater.  It's actually one that I've had in my closet for about 3 years now from Gap and it's an easy go-to because it is very light weight to throw over a tank for any cool weather. Neon and bold colors have really exploded over the past couple of years and easy to find for a bright look! However, I found this super cute one from Forever 21 with an Aztec inspiration for only $22!! Click here to check it out :)

My jeans are from American Eagle and are the skinny jeans in the darker wash.  Topped off with my simple black heeled boots, also from Gap to complete my casual Friday look for less!!

Let me know if you have any questions!
